Frequently Asked Questions

What type of counseling do you offer?

We offer a variety of mental health counseling services, including individual therapy, couples therapy, family therapy, and group therapy.

What are the costs?

Your health insurance very often pays a large portion of the counseling fees, you would be responsible for your copay at the time of your session. If you do not have health insurance coverage we offer a self pay rate.

Can you help me with my unique/unusual concern or problem?

It is surprising how often things that we believe are unusual are actually more prevalent than you might realize. As counselors, we continue to learn how to support people in all types of situations, and all kinds of behavior. The range of what is “normal” is broad and often we stigmatize ourselves for things that we really need to better understand.

Brownstone is open to exploring a multitude of concerns without judgement and with the goal to better understand yourself, and your place in the world. It is difficult to take the first step when our fear and self stigma is in the way. Reach out, give us the opportunity to provide the support that can create a change for you, regardless of your concern

Review the information about our counselors to see if anything resonates for you and your particular situation.

How can I schedule my first appointment?

Reach out to us via phone or email and we will return your request for information within 48 hours.

What happens if I don’t connect with my counselor?

The counseling relationship is very important. Our team are all experienced, kind, and very prepared to offer you unconditional positive regard. We are a judgement free zone where you can feel safe to share. If at any time that relationship feels uncomfortable or complicated, your counselor is open to exploring how to address your concerns

If you determine that you would like to change to another counselor we are glad to support your decision. Often, issues emerge during the course of treatment that may require a more specialized counselor to address. For example, eating disorders, substance abuse and other challenges can be more appropriately treated by a counselor with specific training in that area.

What can I expect from my first session?

Have no fear! Counseling at Brownstone has an inherent process to address your comfort level. Whether telehealth or in person, when you reach out we will guide you through the process and help you understand what to expect at every turn.
